Daises are one of the flowers for the month of April. I really, really like daisies. They just seem like such a happy flower, and there are so many different kinds that there really seems to be a daisy for everyone’s taste. My favorite daisies are these purple ones.
I’m still pretty new to gardening (I wanted nothing to do with it until a few years ago), but my grandmother-in-law (GrandMommy) is an incredible gardener. She knows all of the good places to go, and helps steer me toward things I can actually keep alive. Last year we went to a specialty garden store and I fell in love with these purple daises.
They were just so pretty and looked so happy. I bought them (a GrandMommy approved purchase) and they did really well. Now I can’t wait to go back and get purple daisies to plant this year. I like them so much that I think they’re going to be part of the garden every year.
So what about you? Do you like daisies? Do you have a favorite type or color?
Love daisies, but favorite flower is the majestic sunflower. Not that I garden, I have a very not-green thumb, but I can so appreciate the efforts of other gardeners. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI like daisies, and the purple ones are gorgeous, but my favourite flower would be violets.
ReplyDeleteLovely, apt post for April! :) Your daisies look nice and fresh!
ReplyDeletedaisies are beautiful.. I like the purple ones a lot!
Hi Danielle - I love daisies .. my favourites are the simple daisy that we make chains out of .. and the Bellis Perennis one - stockier and fuller - with different colours ..
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter and thanks for coming over to my blog - Cheers Hilary
I didn't even know they had purple daisies. So pretty! So neat too to have a grandmother-in-law that is knowledgeable like this to pass down her knowledge to a younger generation :)

I'm crazy in love with all flowers, but daisies are certainly a favorite. Good luck with your gardening.
ReplyDeleteDaisies are so lovely. I'm a new gardener too. My daffodils are blooming and the lilies are sprouting. Here's hoping for a wonderful growing season. Good luck with the Challenge!

How attractive. Never been big on gardening and now I only have a balcony anyway.
ReplyDeleteI love to look at daisies (and all flowers) but I hate gardening. Now cooking from yesterday, that I can identify with!

I just found you on the a-z challenge. Nice to meet another animal lover.
ReplyDeleteDaisies are wonderful - and with the sheer number of species and then varieties, there are types to suit every gardener and specific needs!
ReplyDeleteLove them for their (usually) easy, carefree ways.
The variety you have pictured, if I'm not mistaken, is the African or Cape Daisy, which here, where I live, is considered an annual. And, unfortunately, it's a pain in the butt. It never blooms like mad - takes too long for the buds to produce and the plant rather prefers to elongate rather than stay nice and dense - and if one pinches it to promote bushiness, then no buds. So, it's better as an accent plant, for planters and such, rather than bedding. But people go mad for them anyhow. (usually to be disappointed with the results as the summer goes by)
After 20+ years working as a professional gardener, I can still say it amazes me when I see plants doing so well in habitats that are far better suited to them - then, the true glory exists.
Long live the delightful daisy!

I agree they are happy flowers. Isn't there a saying, "As happy as a daisy"? Or did I make that up? Thanks for answering my question on my blog Danielle.
ReplyDeleteI love daisies, but I only have enough sun on one side of the house. Daisies need sun.

I saw some wild yellow daisies growing next to the sage brush yesterday. It's my first year here in Desert Aire, so I was surprised to see the two together. I like daisies, always have :)
ReplyDeleteDaisys are awesome. I think the same way about sunflowers. They're happy! I like to grow different varieties. Untethered Realms
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. Not having a theme is perfect for those days when you just want to blog about whatever is on your mind.
ReplyDeleteThose are so pretty. We love daisies, too! We especially like when we see them just growing wild. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Danielle, I LOVE daisies, but tulips are my favorite. Yellow is such a happy color. Thanks for posting on my blog. I enjoyed your post.
