As soon as I signed up for the A to Z Challenge, I knew that my G would be groundhogs.
We had several groundhogs move into our
backyard last year, and I absolutely love them.
They’re so much fun to watch.
We set up a little critter corner, mainly for the
groundhogs, but we have also had other visitors (some of the other letters in
the challenge will be about some of the other visitors). I put out food and water for them, we set up
a trail cam, and I love watching the videos of the groundhogs enjoying their
snacks.
They like bananas a lot.
They love broccoli.
And corn is one of their absolute favorites.
I know a lot of people consider groundhogs to be pests, but
they’re not hurting anything, so we’re peacefully co-existing with them. I love that they’ve chosen to live in our
yard.
Oh, what a delightful animal to have in the neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteJamie (jannghi.blogspot.com): I don't think I've seen very many groundhogs!
ReplyDeleteThey are the least pest-like of the critters in our yard! We like them!
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing! I've never seen a groundhog.
ReplyDeleteGround hogs are considered a pest when they eat in a vegetable garden. They can do quite a bit of damage there. And since they dig, they can burrow under a fence that may be keeping other animals out. Then you have to bury chicken wire a foot or more down to send them elsewhere. But if that's not your concern, they are cute to watch the way they stand up. It looks like they're providing quite a bit of entertainment for you.
ReplyDeleteThis post is wonderful. In a world gone crazy, these videos and your treatment of these beautiful animals make the world feel safe for today. Thank you for posting G, Danielle.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post

ReplyDeleteHow fun. I bet they provide you all sorts of entertainment.
ReplyDeleteOur backyard has been home to rabbits, moles, voles, and yes - a groundhog.

Yay! I was hoping you'd show the groundhogs for "G." :)
ReplyDeleteBut, how much ground can a groundhog grind?
ReplyDeleteThey're awfully cute, as long as they're not burrowing under my house!
