What Are You Reading?

Today is Day Six of the 30-Day Photo Challenge I’m participating in, and the topic is “Books”.  This is an easy one!  Here’s a picture of my currently reading/about to be read books.

The cookbook, Bought, Borrowed & Stolen, is the one we’re currently using in the Cookbook Book Club.  I’m undecided on whether or not I like it yet.  There’s a lot in it about various places the author has traveled, and the food there, so I’m looking forward to reading that.  I did learn that many of the recipes call for ingredients that aren’t very easy to find locally, so I’ve promised myself to choose a recipe long before we meet next month so I have time to
find everything we need for it.

Moon Women was a book recommended on goodreads that wasn’t available at the local library, but I found it at the thrift store last week.  I’m very excited about reading it, but the other two are library books (that there’s a waiting list for), so I feel like I need to read them first.  I just can’t decide which one to start first.  They have similar (very high) ratings on goodreads, so that’s not helping me make a decision.  Have any of you read either of them?

I really hope I love at least one of them.  It seems like the last few books I’ve read have only been okay, so I’d like to read a great one.  That seems to be the nature of reading, though; spells of finding great books, and spells of only finding okay books.
So what are you reading right now?  Is it great, or just okay?

  1. Hi Danielle,

I think that's neat that you took a photograph of those books you are in the process of reading. I misread the name of one of the authors. Thought it said Ivan Dog, not "Doig" :)

I'm thinking of reading , "The Adventures of Lassie". :) I'm sure it will be just fine.

Have a pawsitive weekend, Penny :)

  3. I hadn't heard of Moon Women; I'll have to check on it. I just went to the library today. I had "discovered" Kristin Hannah last month when I checked out "Home Front" by her and enjoyed her writing style. Today I checked out Night Road by her; it caught my attention from page one and I had to finally put it down so I could do my nightly blog reading. I'm going back to it very soon.

    1. You should check out Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah, I think it's her best book.

Moon Women came up as a suggestion on goodreads, and it looked really good.

  4. I haven't read any of those; I'll have to check them out. :)

Right now I'm reading Chris Baty's No Plot? No Problem! since I'm planning to particpate in NaNoWriMo next month. I've done NaNo for years but have never read this book, so I thought it would be fun. We'll see. :)

    1. That sounds like a good one. Good luck with NaNoWriMo. How do you like doing that? I've thought about it, but always chicken out.
