Snow Pictures & A Catch-Up Post

I seem to be sticking to a pattern of posting about once a month, so here’s the latest catch-up post, and some pictures of Duke playing in the snow.

We had a major snow storm (along with pretty much the entire east coast) on January 22nd. Our total snow accumulation was just under a foot. We also had extremely low temperatures, and crazy high winds. Nick and Duke loved it. Emma and I didn’t venture off of the screened in porch. I actually ended up not going outside for five days straight. I really don’t like snow! So of course I’m hoping that’s it for us for snow this winter. Come on spring!

I’ve changed the comment settings on the blog to require approval for comments on anything that’s more than 14 days old. The spam on the older posts was just getting out of control. Have any of you run into that problem? Any suggestions for solving it?

If you haven’t seen the movie Inside Out yet, I highly recommend watching it. We rented it from Redbox a few weeks ago and both absolutely loved it. There was a lot more to it than either one of us were expecting, but it still leaves you with the nice happy feeling that you expect from a cartoon.

Emma is still holding her own. She has been eating fairly well over the weekend, and has been a little more active and playful. There are definitely some bad days, but for now the good days seem to outnumber the bad ones.

So what about you? Have you had any snow? How are things going for you?

  1. I do the same thing with comments--anything more than a week or two needs approval. I haven't had issues with older posts, though. Odd.

And no, no snow. We don't get snow.

  2. We've had a couple of inches, with an inch or so more expected tomorrow. Since snow is one of many things which make me cranky, having so little makes me happier than usual.

  3. I do the same with comments over 14 days old to comment moderate them; I wonder if spammers look for those posts that are not recent and that's why they seem to get spammed. I do find for the most part I really don't have that spam that comes through even after 14 days (thank goodness!).

That was a lot of snow you guys got! We seem to be inching our way to spring so hopefully there won't be too much more snow coming your way.

Glad to hear Emma is holding her own!

  4. I'm envious of your snow but I'd probably be like you and Emma. I'm glad to hear she's doing well. Duke is a lovely chubster isn't he! No offence meant to him :) I get some ridiculous spam on old posts too.

  5. Wow on the snow! We've only gotten ice here each time they mentioned possible snow and the ice was horrible. Hoping we'll have melted by tomorrow :D

I use Disqus for my commenting system and practically no spam. I get maybe one spam comment out of every few thousand. It's fantastic :)

  6. Thanks for checking in. We're glad to know you guys are hanging in there, in spite of the winter doldrums. ;)

Our winter has been kind of a "variety pack." In one recent 3-day span, we had -7 degrees / 5 inches of snow / 54 degrees and rainy. Crazy!

Totally understand about the spam thing. Your approval after 14 days thing has been our solution, too. It's worked well, for the most part.

    Hugs!
