Located in Laurel Park, NC, Jump Off Rock is a gorgeous
overlook, with a view of the Pisgah and Blue Ridge Mountain Ranges.
Jump Off Rock is named for a legend that says that a young
Cherokee Indian woman jumped to her death upon learning that her lover had been
killed in battle. Some people claim you
can see her ghost at night. I don’t
believe the ghost stories, but it’s a beautiful place to visit.
It’s a great place to take pictures of some absolutely beautiful
mountain views. We don’t get to go quite
as much as we’d like to, but we did make it out there once last summer, and I
was able to get some fairly good pictures.
The drive to Jump Off Rock is very curvy, so if you’re
prone to motion sickness, I highly recommend taking something. It’s a Dramamine trip for me, but well worth it.
Have you visited Jump Off Rock?
Absolutely stunning with the views and scenery. It would be definitely worth the winding roads. Those don't bother me except if we are going up in elevation and there are no guard rails lol. I haven't been to Jump Off Rock but would love to see it if in the area.

Wow, what a view! Jump Off Rock looks like a wonderful place to visit for sure.
ReplyDeleteBesides driving through twice on my way to Florida and Charleston, I’ve never seen NC. Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful area and a great story to go with it!
ReplyDeleteThis looks gorgeous -- a fabulous view!
ReplyDeleteYou did get some good pictures. It doesn't appear to be too foggy which often happens in the higher elevations. I haven't been to Jump Off Rock, but would like to visit if I'm ever in the area. Thanks for the warning about the roads. It would be a Dramamine trip for me, too.
ReplyDeletehills with all that green and clouds look bdul!
ReplyDeleteI meant Bful!
DeleteNice. I do like curvy roads, so long as it isn't mountain roads with long drop offs. Those make me nervous.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous view! I haven't been in that part of the country more than a bit. I'd like to go back some time and explore.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful place. I don't think I have heard of Jump Off Rock. I definitely would need some dramamine or something as I have terrible motion sickness.
ReplyDeleteWhether the story (and apparent ghost sightings) are true or not, I bet the view is most definitely worth the not-so-pleasant ride up there.
