A to Z 2013

I did it, I’ve signed up for the 2013 A to Z Blogging Challenge.  You can read more about what the A to Z Challenge, and sign up to participate yourself, here  if you’re interested.  Basically it involves blogging every day except Sunday during the month of April and going through the alphabet.

I’ve signed up much earlier this year (I’m currently number 455) than I did last year (when I was number 11-something).  I really, really enjoyed participating in last year’s challenge, and I’ve been happy to read that many of my blog friends from last year are participating again this year.

Like last year, I am not sticking to a theme for the A to Z Challenge.  I don’t do especially well with themes.  My first attempt at blogging was with a themed blog, and that just didn’t happen.  I like variety.

Unlike last year, I am planning to try to write at least a few of my posts (bloglets, as one blogger calls them) in advance.  I have no doubt that I will still find myself googling “words that begin with” late at least one night, but I’m hoping to minimize that.

I’m excited about the challenge.  It was a lot of fun last year, and it’s how I met most of the people that I regularly interact with here in the blogging world.

So what about you?  Have you signed up for the 2013 A to Z Challenge yet?  What number are you on the list?  Do you plan to sign up this year?

  1. Yes, I've signed up as well. I love the idea of bloglets. What I am planning is a two-fer: I will write one post that contains two letters. Like A with B, C with D. Will post every other day. That way I hope to read other blogs.

    Gotta start writing!

    1. I like the idea of a two-fer. I'm interested to see how that comes out when you do it. You're right about that potentially allowing more time to visit and comment.

  2. Hi Danielle,

The guy that originally set up the alphabet challenge calls me, "The official anti A to Z spokesman." I do alternative, mostly satirical postings in regards to it. So, no I wont be doing it. However, I have good natured banter with the hosts and ironically, I actually promote the darned thing :)

Seriously though, wishing you must enjoyment and a great way to meet other bloggers. All the best.

    1. Gary, I love some of your blog fest ideas. You're the best anti spokesperson ever.

By the way, I found you, indirectly, through A to Z: I found Delores through A to Z, and found you through her.

    1. Can you believe it has already been almost a year?!?

I'm planning to get most of my posts done early, but we'll see how that goes. I definitely think it would make things easier, and allow a lot more time for reading other blogs.

  5. I signed up. I had a lot of fun with it last year and am really looking forward to round two. I also committed myself to another writing project that month, so I'm hoping I'll be able to find the time I need for the both of them. I can't wait! :)

    1. You're brave for taking on two projects like that. I don' think I found you until right after A to Z last year, so I'm looking forward to seeing your A to Z this year.

  6. I signed up. At the end of last year, I wasn't sure if I would. It was kind of...overwhelming. But I'm feeling all energetic, so I'm ready to go again! I'll probably do a theme, because it makes it easier for me to come up with so many posts (which is not AT ALL my blogging style...I'm more of a "26-a-year" kind of blogger than a "26-a-month" kind of blogger). Anyway, look forward to your alphablog!

    1. I think a theme would overwhelm me. A specific letter is structured enough for me. Will all of your A to Z posts have the clay people? I think those are so cool.

    1. You're welcome. Thank you for hosting A to Z! I'm excited to be linked.

I have not tried a life soundtrack, but it looks like a really good idea. I think that will be a future post.

  11. I signed up, but have no idea what I'm doing. I'm like you, though, I do random. It seems a theme is limiting. I have to be able to scramble to all edges of the earth to come up w/ something. I'll see you there!

    1. I like how you put that about being able to scramble to all edges of the earth to come up with something. That sounds about right for me.

  12. I signed up again as well - the rest (theme or no theme, that's the question...) is not yet decided

  13. I am excited about the being a part of the challenge. I am a new-be but I know it will be fun. My number is 651, so I am a couple hundred behind you. And, btw, you are 453. Megz Madd Readz is 455. I am a little concerned about the letter x; so I am hoping I can find a few from last year for some ideas. God bless, Maria

  14. Hello! I'm number 1093 :)

The challenge was recommended to me last night. This will be my first A-Z Challenge! I'm super nervous but still very excited. I've been blogging for almost five years now but retired that blog and began a new one last week.

I was super close to picking a theme and then decided against it seeing as this is my first time and I didn't want to stretch my mental capacity too thin... ;)

    Good luck!
