They say time flies when you’re having fun, but I think 2020 is proving that time just flies. It certainly hasn’t been fun, but at least it seems to be going by quickly. It has been almost two months since my last post, but it seems like it went by in a blur.
I’m still working from home. I did get to go into the office for two days during the past week, which I was absolutely thrilled about. Beyond that, we’re still being told to work from home until we’re told otherwise.
Nick and I are still staying home as much as possible. Social distancing and mask wearing just aren’t happening in our area, so we’re choosing to avoid situations where we can’t be sure that social distancing and the mask mandate will be enforced.
It’s starting to feel like fall, which is very different from this time last year. One of our local weather forecasters posted on Facebook that in September of 2019, we had twenty days of 90 degree or higher temperatures. This year there only three days of 90 degree or higher temperatures in September.
We’ve been enjoying the cooler weather. We’ve had the windows open for over a week now, and we’ve been eating outside fairly often. I clipped some of the roses that are blooming and put them in a vase on the table outside. I love having cut flowers around, but we can’t have them inside because the cats will destroy them. It’s nice to be able to have them on the outside table.
I’ve switched to fall themed cards and stickers for my chemo and senior buddies. I think the plaid pumpkins are very cute.
So what about you? What have you been up to during the past two months? Does it feel like fall where you are?
You're right, time just flies no matter what. We are like you, staying home as much as possible. We are in Florida where there are no restrictions. Makes it so hard for those of us who are worried about it to stay safe. Happy October, enjoy!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I went apple picking yesterday. It was cold and windy, but we got some good apples. I’m spending as much time outdoors as possible before winter, since we will really be stuck at home then.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you Danielle! I hope your chemo buddies are doing as well as they can! I think some companies are starting to call their people back to the office here because traffic is picking up a bit (or the snowbirds came to town LOL). Glad to hear you have fall weather too! We go from summer to winter literally overnight and from winter to summer here. We don't see too much of a fall or spring weather but it is cooling down. We had the hottest summer recorded this past summer! I know this year is flying by and we aren't really doing anything. Maybe that's a blessing, right??
ReplyDeletebetty
Yesterday we got up to 102 F, so no, it doesn't feel like fall here. But then again, it rarely does, even in the normal times.
ReplyDeleteI actually got out to get my hair cut. I was saying it hadn't been that long. . . only 9 months. For some reason, that barely felt like any time at all. This year. . .
We’ve had a week of heat and humidity which was very unusual for late September. We purchased new bikes and are enjoying them immensely. Social distancing and masks are a thing here. We keep to ourselves a lot too so getting out on the bikes in the country keeps us sane.
ReplyDeleteTake care you two.
It's definitely feeling like fall here, too. The temperatures are dropping, and it's getting darker a lot earlier. Oh, and the leaves are starting to change colors! :)
ReplyDeleteBut yeah, where did the last few months go? Inquiring minds want to know. LOL
It is going fast. I can't believe it is already October. I'm glad you can have fresh air. We don't even have air-con. (About five days every summer I wish we did!). So I know how lovely that air is!
ReplyDeleteI'm pulling together a pdf with my newest cards and will have them this week. Are you still interested?
Great to see a post from you, even if it's taken me something like a week to actually comment on it. Sorry about that... It's been one of those weeks. Anyway, yes, it feels like Fall/Autumn here. We're getting the odd nice day, but mostly it's at least overcast if not outright stormy. Fine by me, because I prefer that kind of weather anyhow.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly feels like fall here in Belfast. There are some wonderful colours as the trees start to shed their leaves. We've been to the cinema a few times since the cinemas reopened. We missed our cinema trips during the lockdown. We've also been back to our favourite local restaurant.
ReplyDeleteIt's bad that people aren't distancing and mask wearing where you are. People here are mostly observing the restrictions, though we're in a huge second wave despite our best efforts. It's hard to see any light at the end of the virus tunnel. 2020 has been a bit of a bummer!
