Thursday 13: Another One Without a Theme

1.    I think a cat picture is always a good way to start a Thursday 13, so here’s one of Caroline.

2.    One of our favorite local restaurants that flooded during Hurricane Helene reopened recently, so we went for dinner last week.

3.    They make all of their own sauces, and everything is so good.  The food is wonderful, but the sauces are incredible.

4.    When we said it was our first time back since they reopened, they showed us where the waterline had been during the flooding.  It’s a little hard to see in the picture, so I circled it.

5.    You can see why it took a little over four months for them to reopen!

6.    In happier weather-related news, we’ve been enjoying some warmer weather this week.  We’ve gotten almost up to seventy degrees almost every day.  It has been wonderful!

7.    I know it probably won’t last, but I’m enjoying it for now.

8.    So are the flowers.

9.    The daffodils are starting to come up.

10. We have a tulip just starting to come up.

11. We have a hyacinth that looks like it’s very close to blooming.

12. I’m hoping it won’t get cold enough to kill off the flowers!

13. A cat picture seems like a good ending for this Thursday 13, so here’s one of Tara.

How was your week?

  1. We haven't been that warm - I'm a bit north of you - but it has been a much nicer week! Flooding is a tough thing to recover from.

  2. So great to see spring flowers poking their heads out!!! You are weeks and weeks ahead of us, but there is just something about the promise of spring, isn't there!!!
Wonderful that your local restaurant was able to reopen. I know may establishments are throwing in the towel and closing. The sauces do look delicious and so does the rest of your food!

  3. It is incredible to see that waterline! So glad that business has recovered, and so quickly.

I always enjoy your photos of the furs!

    Have a great weekend.

  4. The waterline is horrific to consider. How exciting to see some bulbs come up. We still have snow piled up.

  5. I'm amazed the restaurant reopened so quickly. That's a lot of water. We had some warm temps, but it's supposed to cool off a lot today. (Yesterday we got into the 80s. Today we're not supposed to break 70.)

  6. Yikes. I'm so glad the restaurant has reopened. I'm sure it was absolutely devastating and it's quite amazing they are back so soon. That's a good sign. Overall, things looking pretty good in your world. (And yes, a cat is always a good place to start!)

  8. Cats are always a good place to start and a good place to end. :)

  9. This is a great post. Thanks for writing it. Your cat is beautiful. Being in the dumpster rental industry myself, I see a lot of pets around houses. Your cat is one of the cutest I've seen.

  10. Caroline and Tara are both so beautiful! How great that the restaurant reopened, and that you got to go and enjoy the food and sauces. That waterline ... yikes!

Hooray for spring. It was warm here today, but it's supposed to drop back down starting tomorrow. We hope some warm is on its coattails.

  11. We're glad to hear things are starting to open up, although we know there's still a long way to go to get back to "normal" down there. Caroline and Tara are gorgeous! Dad says he and mom are working on their (dad's) retirement plan/exit strategy, which is focused on returning to western North Carolina as soon as they can. It's crazy how high that water was from the flooding! We're trying to find an update on Brother Wolf's (where I was adopted) progress. We were getting regular emails but haven't gotten one lately.

  12. I cannot believe that you have plants coming up already. Spring still seems a ways off back home!

  13. Our weather here is probably a little in advance of yours and we now have displays of early flowers like crocuses. I always feel happy to see them. I love your beautiful cats!
